Naval engineers are responsible for the design, planning, projection and construction of all water craft, including boats, oil platforms and even offshore wind farms. Naval engineering covers such functions as the development of creative projects for sea craft and floating material, the technical development of the design and construction phases and the management of production centres (boat yards). Furthermore, this field of activity covers the tasks of maintenance and repair.
Nowadays, naval engineers are characterised by their high degree of versatility, with their knowledge extending to such fields as the generation and transportation of electrical energy, the manufacture and installation of naval motors and dynamic metallic structures, etc.
Up until the 18th-century, such engineers were known as "constructors" in Spain. As of 1770, they became known as "marine -or hydraulic- engineers", before finally being recognised by the term "naval engineers".
Famous naval engineers include Thomas Andrews, designer of RMS Titanic and RMS Olympic, and William Francis Gibbs, responsible for the design of such vessels as SS America, SS Leviathan and SS United States. Mention must also be made of Francisco Gautier, who succeeded Jorge Juan as the engineer responsible for the construction of vessels for the Spain's Royal Armada, and Romero Landa, one of the greatest naval engineers of his time.

American yachts
It is no coincidence that only small American vessels are commercialized in Europe, despite the fact that North American quality standards are, in general terms, equal or superior to those of Europe as a result both of the country's consolidated naval industry's constant efforts to lead the market and of the need to protect an ever-growing fleet against even the worst local weather conditions.

The reason behind this circumstance is to be found in the complex framework of controls, taxes and burocracy that makes the importation into Europe of large-scale, powerful, easy-to-handle and attractively-priced yachts extremely expensive, especially when bearing in mind the extensive range of European vessels on offer.

With the founding of AITAMAR U.S. INC., and with the aim of bringing unbeatable American products within the range of Europen boat owners, our group is able to offer you the possibility to acquire a large-scale yacht equipped with the latest technology at a very interesting price - especially so bearing in mind the favourable exchange rates - and accompanied by the best possible specialised assessment: from the drafting of the construction request contract, the monitoring of the same and the importation procedure to the turnkey delivery of the vessel. We are able to register your yacht under the flag of your choice and to provide after-sale warranty technical services.
